Oh hell yes.

I worked with Studio Ghibli and Mondo to create these two posters for one of my favourite movies. I still can’t quite believe this, it’s such a huge honour.
My Neighbor Totoro is a 20x36 8-colour screen print. It’ll be for sale from Mondo soon and, as usual, I will have some signed APs for sale at some point later.

I remember the 2004 Tsunami.
I remember my girlfriend (now my wife) couldn’t stop thinking about it after it happened.
I remember her being the reason we decided to figure out how we could help the victims, practically.
I remember finding out she was afraid of flying about an hour after taking off from LAX, It would be another 19 hours before we would land in Sri Lanka.
I remember being met by South Asian traffic for the first time the next morning .
I remember clouds the size of mountains, sailing over the sea.
I remember the smell of the Indian Ocean.
I remember huge empty clearings in the coconut palms where villages used to be.
I remember the dirt being pocked with slabs of concrete in rows where people’s homes used to be standing.
I remember rows and rows of blue tent cities.
I remember all of this going on for miles and miles.
I remember no one saying anything for a long time.
I remember a 20 foot statue of Buddha in the middle of a roundabout being shrouded in a large sheet.
I remember the frustration of realizing we weren’t going to be able to rebuild everything we had though thought we could, mostly because the price of cement was spiking and there weren’t enough bricks on the Island.
I remember the heat and humidity being like nothing I had experienced.
I remember finding human bones while helping some people clear overgrowth.
I remember a ceremony for the people who had died on the train that was passing just behind the our village when the waves came and lifted the cars right off the tracks and twisted the railroad like soft taffy.
I remember learning that big AID was a business and that helping people in foreign cultures was complicated.
I remember praying with Buddhist monks over foundations we had build.
I remember people with nothing giving us things to drink and eat.
I remember realizing that “fixing it” wasn’t the point.
